The 2023 Show will see a return of the exciting Woodchop Competition with the events being held on Saturday.
The Speed Shear was an extremely popular event at the 2022 Show and will be held again at 7:00pm Friday night, with the grand finale event ‘Walcha Versus the World’. The Cattle Dog Challenge and Yard Dog trials will be highly competitive, with the best dogs in the district and from around NSW and their handlers lining up to showcase their skills.
The pavilions will have an abundance of delightful blooms, plump farm produce, delicious cooking, preserves, jams and jellies, beautiful arts and crafts, fascinating photographs, and a wonderful display of wool fleeces – the best wool exhibition around! The cattle, sheep, horse and poultry competitions will be well attended with the best of the best on show! Return events included Dog Jumping, Pet Competition, Ag Bike Competition, Demolition Derby, Fireworks, Fashion Parade, Lamb Judging, Peanut Drop and more. The Feature Breed in the cattle ring will be Shorthorns.
The very talented, local Walcha equestrian, Ash Barnett, and her equally talented horses will entertain the crowd early Friday evening with their freestyle manoeuvres that took them on to their journey to compete in the inaugural Liberty Championship at Equitana – a huge event in Melbourne showcasing the best of equine competitions. The communication and connection Ash has with her horses, established over many hundreds of hours of working and playing together, is inspiring to see!
Live music by Tommy Miller on Saturday night.
